This image is of a larger painting, but I chose to talk about the one part of this artwork that shows different structures of houses. I found this piece of artwork in the Starbucks by Park Place Mall. I usually do not take notice of the artwork there, but today I took particular attention to this one. I believe it represents a unity of people, and that no matter their culture, language, or religion, we are all still human beings with different tastes. I believe that the brown aura around the houses represents the differences of the people in each specific culture, and that the rectangular border around the certain piece could represent how all of our different cultures are living on the same planet, Earth. Having it be in a Starbucks made me wonder if this piece was trying to represent that no matter our differences we can all come together and enjoy a cup of coffee. It also made me think that this piece could represent that coffee houses can bring different nationalities and personas all under one roof to enjoy the common interest of drinking a cup of coffee in the company of fellow friends. This painting is definitely connotative. There is no exact meaning to this piece, and one is allowed to interpret and analyze it how one pleases.
Starbucks has an amazing art department that does some really exceptional work. I think your interpretation is interesting. They have invested heavily in creating community and are also committed to recycling.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :-) What an interesting depiction to find in a coffee shop. It makes me wonder what all I can see in restaurants if i just look around
